Co-Regulating Touchwork is a gentle approach for trauma resolution.
Touchwork is a branch of Somatic Experiencing® Therapy.
We focus on working with your body's stress physiology, so that you have more ease in your body, emotions and mind.
In some cases when an experience is overwhelming for our system, our body might not have a chance to move through the natural cycle of a stress response, and resolve it. Something may have kept us from doing what our body wanted to do at the time. Such as run, push away, get away, defend yourself, fight or say something.
In some cases, such as childhood ongoing trauma, the cycle doesn't complete because threats are repeated or ongoing. A child doesn't get to successfully fight or flee when they are dependent on their parents, and smaller in size.
So we are often stuck in freeze; a natural, biological protective response of stillness or shutdown, to feel or experience the least pain. The body believes there is not another option. It is not a cognitive choice.
This stress pattern of staying stuck in fight/flight or freeze without relief, can carry on into adulthood.
The patterns can be changed, even years later.
In these cases, we are together looking for where your system may have been held back from completion. We offer your system the support it needs to re-organize and come back in to that settled, safe & social branch of the nervous system.
Victoria provides Co-Regulating Touchwork for
women in their mid 30's and up, who are experiencing feeling "stuck" in some aspect of life.
