I provide mind-body, somatic therapy & EMDR for women who are feeling the lingering effects of trauma, or relationship injuries.
Find relief, unwind stress physiology, and move forward with more ease in your body and access to joy.
Janina Fisher, Ph.D
Somatic Experiencing® is a body oriented approach that supports nervous system regulation and resilience.
With Somatic Experiencing, I support your body to resolve the difficult or frightening experiences from the past.
It's the stuck signaling system inside our bodies that has us feeling distress.
"Trauma is the echo of a threat that hasn't left the body."
- Luis Mojica
Instead of continuing to be stuck in overdrive (fight or flight), or in neutral (freeze) we can feel better, think more clearly and move forward with our lives.
Trauma is sneaky.
Trauma creates disconnection - not just between people but within our own selves, clear down to how our nervous system is reading signals on a daily basis.
That wreaks havoc on our bodies and our relationships, especially the closest ones.
We can find new ways to relate to ourselves and the people closest to us. You can get out of the conflict cycle or shut down and avoid cycle.
With support you can access a different choice, when it's a safe relationship.
Watch your resilience strengthen.
Make the changes you want in your life.
Feel the benefits for your body, mind, heart and relationships.
After that, we set up a 90 minute initial assessment session.
Initial 90 Minute Assessment Session: 240.00
60 minute Individual Session: 175.00
Two Hour Intensive: 320.00
Reduced Rate for SE Therapists
Payment options:
Credit card, cash or Health Savings Card
Insurance:
I do not accept insurance. I provide a specialized receipt for clients to submit for possible reimbursement, if they choose. I am considered "out of network."
Scheduling Hours: I offer day time appointments, in-person or online telehealth, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
My first appointment is at 8:00 with the last appointment beginning at 2:30.
At the beginning, SE will feel like familiar "talk therapy" where you might share about your current concerns and situation, what you'd like to be different, and what is going well in your life. That conversation will continue throughout therapy, to track updates and progress, and new experiences that will come up.
You'll learn about how the nervous system works when it's under stress or trauma. Together we will discover what your nervous system needs to feel better. I will support you to track and shift what is going on inside you, in a way that is empowering. We will begin that in sessions.
To get there, we will take brief pauses in our sessions to allow what you are feeling and thinking to move through you physically and feel finished. In the body that means you are integrating a new experience, instead of recycling it and feeling the stress of it without relief.
Together we practice how to change the signaling system inside you that is keeping your stress going.
With time, you will feel your body do this naturally.
Watch your resilience and capacity grow. Feel more ease and steadiness in your body and emotions and in your day to day life.
You will learn some methods to do this that we practice in session, which supports your change between sessions.

This is an optional treatment approach for women, within Somatic Experiencing sessions. The goal is the same: To support your nervous system regulation and trauma resolution.
This gentle hands-on somatic approach reminds your body (nervous system) that it knows how to come into settling; into healthy regulation and flexibility.
You're invited to lay down on a massage table on your back, fully dressed. Hand placements by the practitioner are still and light, in areas known to hold trauma patterns such as joints (shoulders, wrists, ankles) adrenals (your back) and brainstem (the back of your head.)
Non verbal and childhood trauma leaves imprints, sometimes without stories or pictures or explanations. Sometimes there are full memories.
This gentle approach does not rely on knowing or verbally processing the "story" of what happened, or didn't happen.
The healing happens in the here and now, by co-regulating with a present, caring person that is human first.
I offer my regulated nervous system and somatic skills for gentle trauma resolution.
It is optional and never required or expected in order to benefit from Somatic Experiencing.
I offer both. Let me know what you prefer.
Yes! I provide EMDR & Somatic Experiencing Intensive healing sessions.
Intensives are usually a set of extended sessions with a purposeful goal. Sometimes this is 2 hours, or up to 4 hours in one day. The purpose is to move through a stuck place with a more spacious, focused and gentle approach.

My colleague Carmen McHenry and myself founded Water Street Family Counseling together in 2012, after working together since 2000 in a community counseling agency setting.
We are happy to welcome clients into this home, and create a warm and comfortable atmosphere to support healing.
